Lamp Shade DIY: Fabric Strips

Want to add a pop of color to your room?  Try this easy 4 step no-sew lamp shade craft.

What you’ll need:

  • Glue Gun
  • Fabric strips (cut long enough to go around your lamp shade and cross with extra fabric) We used the red Dunroven House fat quarter bundle (shop here.)
  • Plain lamp shade
  • Scissors


Step 1:  Glue half way down your fabric strip and secure to bottom rim of lamp shade.

Step 2: Take fabric strip next layer up and overlap above rim to desired view length.  Glue the piece all the way around lamp and tie to ends together.

Step 3: Continue up the entire lamp until you reach the top.

Step 4: Cut and trip extract fabric to desired length.

Step 5: Attach to lamp and you’re done!

Try the other direction this time!


Step 1: Lamp strips vertical down lamp shade and glue to back.

Step 2: Continue on the entire lampshade.

Step 3: Tie a cute contrasting piece around the middle.

Step 4: Attach to lamp and you’re done!

Four Pops to Cool Down The Summer Heat

Cool down with these sweet treats this summer.  Best part, they are simple to make!

Raspberry Lemonade

Pour raspberry lemonade into a dixie cup.

Add a few raspberries.

Top with a lemon slice.

Stick a popsicle stick in the middle and freeze!

Watermelon Lime


In a blender place 3 cups watermelon, 1/4 cup lime juice, and a teaspoon sugar and blend.

Pour in a dixie cup.

Top with a lime slice.

Stick a popsicle stick in the middle and freeze!

Peanut Butter Chocolate


Alternate layers of chocolate pudding, Nutella, and peanut butter in  a dixie cup.

Chop up a few mini Reese’s cups to top.

Stick a popsicle stick in the middle and freeze!

Mango Pineapple


Put a 14oz can of cubed pineapple, 1 peeled mango, a cup water, and a teaspoon lemon juice and puree.

Pour into a dixie cup with a few pieces of chopped up mango and pineapple.

Stick a popsicle stick in and freeze!
